Book Boyfriend: Charlie Cox

We decided that Thursday needed a little pizazz and stumbled on this meme while hanging out at one of our favorite blogs, A Book and a Cupcake. So we took ourselves over to The Unread Reader to see what it was all about and join the fun. We'd love it if you'd leave a comment if you participate in this so we can check out your book boyfriends as well.

My Book Boyfriend: Charlie Cox from Only Everything by Kieran Scott

About Charlie
Charlie is the target of True Olympia's (aka Eros/Cupid) matchmaking in Only Everything by Kieran Scott. Charlie is the black sheep in his family and he has little in common with his jock, sports star brothers and his dad. Instead, he's a passionate musician and an all-around good guy.

Personality
Charlie has a "kind of empathy [that] is rare in the teenage population." He's a good and decent guy, one who helps his friends and is only temporarily swayed by the allure of popularity, but who always stays true to himself. Another of his awesome qualities is that he helps his friends see their own potential. And on the first day of school Charlie is the only human who offers True, who is new to the school, "even an ounce of consideration."

Appearance
Shaggy blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and he always has a pair of well-worn drumsticks on him. According to True, he has "this scruffy, twenty-first-century-artist look." She also calls him not-Justin-Bieber, which I found hilarious. :)

Why He's My Book Boyfriend
Charlie is an intelligent, thoughtful, shaggy haired boy who also happens to (bonus!) be a great musician. And he's empathic and kind and considerate. His voice makes girls "feel fuzzy and warm, like hot chocolate on a cold day." He's the epitome of the nice guy, boy next door, with an undiscovered cool that True helps him fully realize.

Quotes About Charlie
"Charlie's face was ruddy, and his hair was wet around the ears. His gray T-shirt was stained with sweat, and he was grinning from ear to ear. he looked strong. Vibrant. Manly. He was oozing testosterone."

"He had this adorable dimple right next to the right side of his mouth and I suddenly, irrationally, wanted to lean in and kiss it."

"In the corner of a large room, Charlie was beating in a set of drums with maniacal precision. His eyes were closed and he kept the beat with his chin, occasionally shaking his head as he really felt the rhythm. He was unbelievable. He was handsome. He was even sexy. The boy was in his element."

"He was yards away, but we locked eyes, and for a second, everything went away. The sorrow, the self-deprecation, the dread of going home. Everything. There was this inquisitive look in his eyes, as if he knew something was wrong, even though that was fully impossible."

"His shaggy blond hair was pushed forward over his forehead, his bright blue eyes peeking out from under them. White wires dangled from his ears, connected to an iPod in his front pocket. His posture was slightly hunched, and a pair of worn-looking drumsticks stuck out of his red backpack. He had on a blue-and-white-striped polo shirt that was too pressed to go with the rest of him, which made me think his mother might have picked it and laid it out for him this morning."
